Not entirely. Carbon that is used in the Can-Filters has an average adsorption capacity of 60%-65% of its total weight. This is very high. Can-Filters doesn’t cut or hold back on the amount of carbon in the Filters. Our Motto: The more carbon your filter contains the better!
So Carbon is like a sponge? No, A sponge absorbs, Carbon Adsorbs. The difference is just one 1 letter, however it works completely different, Carbon catches the odor-molecules that are blown into its pores and doesn’t release them.
Most Can Filters have a Carbon bed of either 6,5 cm or 5cm. The bigger the Carbon Bed the more carbon inside and the better the Filter. However the Filter will also be heavier. For some applications a smaller Carbon bed (and therefore lighter weight) is preferred.
Our 25 layered pre-filter keep the dust and other dirt from going into the filters. The pre-filter is easy exchangeable and easy to clean.
Can Filters are the result of over 30 years experience in developing, producing and testing all types of filters. Raising the bar every time. When the demands of the market change, Can filters is ready to adjust its filters accordingly. Our R&D team is always ready to come up with new ideas for our Filters.
Can Filters are filled with the best quality Carbon; Pelletized or Granulated Carbon. Active Carbon is a specially treated type of Carbon and is very suitable for air filtration. Good to know: At Can Filters we never try to save on the amount of carbon. The more Carbon a filters contains the better it filters.
The Base material of the Pelletized Carbon is coal. By heating up the base material pores and canals occur. This process is called the activation process. Hence Active Carbon. This can be done Chemically or Thermally. With Chemical activation we add phosphoric acid and/or zinc Chloride during the heating process. Thermic activation means we add dry steam on a high temperature to the carbon. The semi-finished product as a result is very porous and has mostly small to very small pores.
Untreated Carbon doesn’t work. For Carbon to be able to adsorb it must be heated first. Granulate Carbon is the most commonly used type of active Carbon for air filters. The adsorption capacity of our carbon is 65%. Which is very high. This gives our customer a perfect balance of effectivity and durability. Can Filters always uses the highest quality carbon possible.
